If you are interested in having Imam Yahya perform your wedding (Nikah) or speak at your reception (Walima) then please contact him at imam@mascharlotte.org
As far as the general matrimonial service, we are in our infancy stage and we need help from all of you to ensure that it is a successful, respectful, confidential and engaging project. Please email constructive feedback and suggestions to matrimonial@mascharlotte.org.
Our Role:
The role of the Matrimonial Assistance Program is to provide singles in the Charlotte and surrounding communities a resource of eligible individuals and facilitate information exchange and meeting arrangements. Additionally, applicants will have the opportunity to attend special workshops on how to choose a spouse through educational programs and resources.
Our Process:
First: Applicant fills out the Matrimonial-Contact-Info-and-Terms AND Matrimonial-Service-Questionnaire forms. All forms are strictly confidential and information will be shared only upon clear consent.
Applicants can submit the forms in the following ways:
- Email as an attachment to matrimonial@mascharlotte.org
- Postal mail (Address: MAS-CHARLOTTE Office, Attention: MAS Matrimonial, 4301 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28215)
- Drop-off at the MAS-CHARLOTTE office (please seal envelope with “To: MAS Matrimonial” written on the front).
All applicants will receive an email with information and instructions to help guide the selection and marriage process.
Second: Applicants self-select a match. Selections are made from the male or female binder of Matrimonial Questionnaires. The binders are kept in the MAS office. They are available to view Mon–Fri 10am–6pm. Selections are submitted using a Request Form available in the binders (you will choose ID numbers, as there are no names or photos in the binders).
Third: A face-to-face meeting is arranged at MAS without any exchange of personal information just yet. It is an option to exchange photos before the meeting. The meeting will be coordinated and supervised by a married, trained Match Helper. The match helper will attempt to arrange a meeting (on separate occasions) with your requested match. Request forms are deposited in the locked matrimonial drop box in the main office.
Fourth: Face-to-face meeting takes place. Applicants are accompanied by a Match Helper following Islamic Guidelines.
Fifth: Applicants can choose to share contact information after the face-to-face meeting. Respect, confidentiality and sensitivity will be maintained throughout this process.
Sixth: God willing, it is our hope in the near future to supplement the process with work-shops and lectures open to our entire Ummah about optimal preparation for marriage and strategies to maintain healthy marriages.
